Overview
ExcelForAll is a browser-based training platform for Microsoft Excel and comparable spreadsheet tools. Its premise is deliberately anti-video: instead of watching demonstrations, learners complete 84 short exercises inside a live spreadsheet engine that evaluates the formula written in a cell rather than the number it produces.
Key Features
- Method-level answer checking — The checker inspects cell formulas directly, so a hand-typed total in a SUM exercise is marked incorrect even when the value is right. This enforces the intended technique instead of rewarding arithmetic shortcuts.
- Pre-written diagnostic feedback — Each common error carries an explanation authored in advance, naming the specific fault such as a wrong range or a skipped row. Hints are released incrementally and a worked solution remains available.
- Structured 17-part curriculum — The path runs from Excel Basics and cell references through SUM/AVERAGE, IF logic, COUNTIF/SUMIF, text functions, lookups, charts and practical challenges, totalling roughly seven hours of practice in two-to-eight-minute blocks.
- Accessible entry point and portable progress — The first exercise is selecting a cell and typing in it, with the first formula supplied in full. Account-linked progress follows learners across devices, and finishing all 84 exercises yields a certificate with a public verification link at no extra fee.
Access Model
Nineteen exercises are open without an account, with a threshold of 46 of 84 for registered free users; later sections such as lookups require a paid plan. The accompanying written guides and function reference stay free. Formulas, ranges and references transfer largely unchanged to Google Sheets and Apple Numbers, though shortcuts and menu labels differ, and the exercises are markedly more practical on a physical keyboard than on a touchscreen.
